| Abstract: | A retenção no Ensino Superior é um fenômeno que está presente em instituições de Ensino Superior, comprometendo a trajetória do estudante e procrastinando a sua formação, e em alguns casos mais graves, causando a evasão, onde o aluno desiste de concluir o curso. Este trabalho, portanto, busca compreender esse fenômeno da retenção discutindo conceitos e estudos sobre o tema, além de apresentar quem são os alunos que estão ingressando nos cursos de licenciaturas e em específico Pedagogia, e porque esses alunos escolheram a licenciatura como opção de curso superior. A metodologia empreendida neste trabalho consiste em uma pesquisa bibliográfica realizada em base de dados como Periódicos Capes, SciELO Brasil e Google Acadêmico, resultados apontam que são alunos que vêem o magistério como uma vocação, e em razão de questões sociais e econômicas tem nas licenciaturas uma oportunidade de mudança de vida. |
| Description: | Retention in Higher Education is a phenomenon present in education institutions, compromising students’ academic trajectories and delaying the completion of their degrees, and in more severe cases, leading to dropout, in which students give up finishing their courses. This study therefore seeks to understand this phenomenon of retention by discussing concepts and studies on the subject, as well as presenting who the students entering teacher education programs—specifically pedagogy—are, and why these students choose teaching degrees as their option for higher education. The methodology adopted in this work consists of bibliographic research carried out in databases such as CAPES Journals, SciELO Brazil, and Google Scholar. The results indicate that these students tend to view teaching as a vocation and, due to social and economic factors, see teacher education programs as an opportunity for social mobility and life transformation. |
